About LPF

The Lynnwood Park Foundation, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Our mission statement is “To preserve, sustain, safeguard and create a living historical site that honors the past of the original Lynnwood Park Community, while uplifting our future”.

Lynwood Park was established in the early 1930’s and was the first predominantly Black subdivision in DeKalb County.  Residents throughout the following years suffered discrimination and segregation.  In 1968, students of the Lynwood Park School, now known as the Lynwood Park Trailblazers integrated Cross Keys and Chamblee High schools. The Brookhaven City Council issued its first official historic designation for Lynwood Park and its community in 2020.
